Dua Fish Tank creates their first burger for Macon Burger Week

Their creation is called the Dua Banh Mi Burger. It is a beef patty covered in their signature pork, avocado, alfalfa sprouts and a wasabi aioli.

MACON, Ga. — Monday is the first day of Macon Burger Week and Dua Fish Tank in Macon has created their first burger for the competition.

Dua Fish Tank on Spring Street is a newcomer to Macon Burger Week.

Their creation is called the Dua Banh Mi Burger. It is a beef patty covered in their signature pork, avocado, alfalfa sprouts and a wasabi aioli.

It comes with a fried egg, and pickled veggies on the side that you can add to the burger if you want.

This build your own set up was created by Dua's chef and franchise owner Christian Jendrasick.

He's been a chef for many years and has cooked in many competitions. He says it's exciting to be in his first Burger Week.

Dua Fish Tank doesn't have any burgers on it's current menu. Jendrasick saw Macon Burger Week as a chance to think outside the box.

"I didn't want to just put a burger on a plate and stick a toothpick in it and have it come out of this giant tower that people have to look at. I kind of like the idea that people get to see it and it's presented nicely like the way a chef would," Jendrasick said.

There is some stiff competition during this Macon Burger Week because there are other newcomers like Dua, as well as previous champs and burger week veterans.

Jendrasick says the burger at Dua Fish Tank can stand up to the challenge.

"I think I used our flavor profiles really well and mixed them together to create this burger and I think the people that do eat it are going to be very surprised that a burger coming out of a Vietnamese restaurant tastes so damn good," he said.

On Monday, customers were in and out the restaurant taking their first bites. Jendrasick says that when you make something someone enjoys it's a win for him.

"When you find something right and you find something that works that's your chance to be like 'I did it,'" he said.

Jendrasick says that if you want to try something a little different with a Vietnamese twist then Dua Fish Tank is the place to stop.

They are located at 781 Spring Street in Macon, and are open Monday - Saturday from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. - 7 p.m.
