WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — The Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warner Robins hosted its first annual Blessing of the Bikes event on Saturday.
Motorcycle owners and bicycle owners were all invited to meet in the church’s south parking lot to have their bikes blessed.
The event was also held to raise awareness about overall bike safety. Helmet safety was the main focus, with those in attendance promoting being safe when wearing helmets and safety gear.
Four bikes and six people pulled up to the event.
Jonathan Morrow, who put on the event, came up with the idea after he had his bike blessed. Shortly after purchasing one, he had it blessed by a priest for safety.
He came up with the idea to do this event at a church to perform blessings for bikes for the whole community.
While this was the first time Blessing of the Bikes was held, Morrow wants to hold annual meetings every year.
The event ran from 10 to 10:30 a.m.
