MACON, Ga. — Even though Hurricane Helene has not made landfall yet, the impacts in Central Georgia have already been felt. Some tornado warnings and heavy rainfall have already led to roads being washed out and more.
Here's a look at power outages, road closures and damage reports as they stream into the newsroom.
POWER OUTAGES
According to Georgia Power and Flint Energies maps, several customers are seeing power outages across Central Georgia.
Georgia EMC is reporting that 25,000 people in Middle Georgia are without power at the moment.
- Baldwin County: The US Power Outage map is reporting that 1,224 customers have lost power in Bibb County.
- Ben Hill County: The US Power Outage map is reporting that 2,163 customers have lost power in Ben Hill County.
- Bibb County: The US Power Outage map is reporting that 525 customers have lost power in Bibb County.
- Hancock County: The US Power Outage map is reporting that 107 customers have lost power in Hancock County.
- Houston County: The US Power Outage map is reporting that 172 customers have lost power in Houston County.
- Irwin County: The US Power Outage map is reporting that 3,838 customers have lost power in Irwin County.
- Jasper County: The US Power Outage map is reporting that 389 customers have lost power in Jasper County.
- Jones County: The US Power Outage Map is reporting that 1,013 customers have lost power in Jones County.
- Lamar County: The US Power Outage map is reporting that 513 customers have lost power in Lamar County.
- Monroe County: The US Power Outage map is reporting that 473 customers have lost power in Monroe County.
- Pike County: The US Power Outage map is reporting that 508 customers have lost power in Putnam County.
- Putnam County: The US Power Outage map is reporting that 597 customers have lost power in Putnam County.
- Telfair County: The US Power Outage map is reporting that 1,492 customers have lost power in Telfair County.
- Treutlen County: The US Power Outage map is reporting that 516 customers have lost power in Treutlen County.
- Washington County: The US Power Outage map is reporting that 124 customers have lost power in Washington County.
- Wilcox County: The US Power Outage map is reporting that 692 customers have lost power in Wilcox County.
Lowndes County has been affected the most by power outages so far, according to the US Power Outage Map. They say 31,999 customers are without power as Hurricane Helene approaches the border between Florida and Georgia.
ROAD CLOSURES:
Bibb County: Two roads are closed in Bibb County, according to a report from the Macon-Bibb Emergency Management Agency. They say both Lamar Road and North Wesleyan Drive have been closed due to fallen trees.
Dooly County: Several roads are closed in Dodge County as a result of severe water damage, according to a report from the Dodge County Fire Department. They say Benevolence Road, Louis Harrel Road and Yancey Road is closed.
They also say Isham Springs Road is closed between Rocky Springs Road and Free Gift Church Road, Friendship Baptist Road is closed from Fair Haven Road to Highway 117, and Milan Eastman Road is closed from Highway 166 to Sweet Home Church Road.
