TELFAIR COUNTY, Ga. — Classes are canceled for students in several Central Georgia counties on Thursday due to the possibility of severe weather.
The Telfair County School District website says school is canceled for all students.
"School has been canceled for all Telfair County students tomorrow, February 6, 2020 due to the possibility of severe weather," the website says. "All faculty and staff should report at 9 a.m. Thank you.
Schools in Wheeler County are closed as well, superintendent Suzanne Couey told 13WMAZ.
Schools in Wilkinson County are closed for all students, but staff are still required to be there from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A Facebook post from Dodge County Schools says there will be no after school programs for students on Thursday due to the potential for severe weather.
Here is a list of Central Georgia school districts that have cancellations, or early release, on Feb. 6, 2020.:
- Baldwin County Schools -- All after school activities canceled
- Brentwood School in Sandersville -- Early dismissal at 11:55 a.m., all after school activities canceled
- Dodge County Schools — Normal classes, no after school programs
- Dooly County Schools — Closed for students and staff
- John Hancock Academy — Early dismissal at 11:50 a.m., region basketball tournament canceled
- Laurens County Schools -- Early release at 1 p.m., no after school activities
- Oconee Fall Line Technical College — all campuses will close at 1 p.m.
- Telfair County Schools — No students, staff reports at 9 a.m.
- Wilkinson County Schools — No students, staff reports from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Wheeler County Schools — No students, staff reports at 8 a.m.
- Twiggs Academy — Closed for students and staff
- Twiggs County Schools — Early dismissal at 1 p.m. for bus and car riders
- Washington County — Early dismissal starting at 11:45 a.m., buses will load at noon. All after school activities are canceled
