MACON, Ga. — JULY 14TH 5 AM UPDATE - Subtropical Storm Don has formed in the Central Atlantic Ocean. Don has maximum sustained winds up up to 50 mph and has a central pressure of 1002 mb.
The storm is moving northward at 6 mph. It is forecasted to continue northward into cooler waters, and then make a sharp southward track towards Africa. Between sea surfacing temperatures cooling and drier air in the area, this system will have a hard time strengthening into a hurricane.
It is expected to persist as a subtropical storm over the next few days. This storm will have no impact to the United States.
