The ground stop was in effect until 12:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

ATLANTA — A ground stop issued Thursday for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport lifted at its scheduled time, but the Federal Aviation Administration says delays will continue until 6 p.m.

The ground stop was in effect for nearly two hours until 12:45 p.m. Flights were not allowed to depart to Atlanta from most of the central and eastern U.S and flights departing from Atlanta were grounded.

According to the FAA's website, the ongoing delays will average 68 minutes.
