National Weather Service confirms 3 more tornadoes hit Central Georgia

The National Weather Service confirmed three more tornadoes, all EF-0, also hit Central Georgia on Sunday, including one in downtown Macon

UPDATE: Wednesday, 11 p.m.

The National Weather Service confirmed three more tornadoes hit Central Georgia during Sunday's storms.

This brings the total number of tornadoes up to 11.

Three EF-0 tornadoes were added: a 'high-end' EF-0 in downtown Macon, one in Taylor County and one in northeast Macon County/southern Peach County.

EF-0 wind speeds range from 65 to 85 mph.

No other surveys are planned by the National Weather Service.

As National Weather Service survey teams continue reviewing damage from Sunday’s severe weather across the southeast, they’ve confirmed at least 8 tornadoes affected Central Georgia.

This is the order in which they say they hit:

  1. EF-2 in Crawford/Peach County from 3:15-3:22 p.m.

This tornado began on Lee Pope Road as an EF-0, about 5 miles NW of Fort Valley, and ended 5 miles SW of Byron along Oak Way.

2. EF-1 in Huber, Twiggs County from 3:42-44 p.m.

The same supercell that produced the tornado in Peach County created the one in Huber. It touched down near the KaMin factory on Huber Road and lifted back up near Cochran Short Route (US-23)

3. EF-1 in Wilkinson County from 4:18-20 p.m.

A third tornado touched down just west of Highway 112 and ended in the woods near the Oconee River

4. EF-1 in Oconee, Washington County from 4:24-25 p.m.

5. EF-1 in Washington County from 4:36-38 p.m.

6. EF-1 in Washington County from 4:55 p.m.

Two other tornadoes, both EF-0, have been preliminarily confirmed in Telfair County, but a report about those two has not been completed yet.
