MACON, Ga. — The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Central Georgia from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feels-like temperatures up to 108 degrees are forecasted at times across almost all of Central Georgia.

Hancock and Washington counties are the only two left out of this Heat Advisory today, but their feels-like temperature will still be feeling almost as hot too.

High temperatures today will only top out in the upper 90s across Central Georgia today, but with very humid air still in the picture the moisture in the atmosphere will have about a 10-degree influence on feels-like temperatures during the hottest part of the day. So the heat you're feeling today will be a very "swampy" heat.

Luckily, some good coverage of scattered showers and storms will sprout due to the muggy environment and hopefully provide for some relief from the heat at times. However, since the nature of this afternoon's rain is very hit-or-miss, you can root for the rain but will need to stay prepared for the heat.

Staying hydrated throughout the day and staying indoors as much as possible with air conditioning are important ways to stay safe. Do not leave any pets or children unattended within a vehicle, as it may reach dangerous levels within minutes. It is encouraged to check on your neighbors and relatives.
