Potential Central Georgia Impacts:

Direct impacts from Laura are unlikely in central Georgia. Aside from chances for showers and thunderstorms that are loosely associated with the tropical systems, Georgia will miss any impacts.

Tropical storm force conditions are not expected anywhere in Georgia. Flooding due to heavy rain is not expected anywhere within Georgia.

What steers these storms?

Tropical systems in the Atlantic always want to move toward the north pole. Often, this is prevented by large regions of high pressure. The systems are forced west until they can find a break or weakness in the upper level ridging pattern.
