EF-2 tornado confirmed in Crawford County

The tornado continued into Peach County and lifted up before hitting Byron

ROBERTA, Ga. — The National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado did touch down in Crawford County on Sunday afternoon.

According to preliminary reports from the NWS survey crew at the scene, damage is consistent with an EF-2 tornado.

The Enhanced Fujita scale (EF) classifies an EF-2 tornado as being between 111-135 mph and causing considerable damage.

The survey team says the tornado weakened to an EF-1 when it moved into Peach County and lifted back up prior to hitting Byron.

They are still working to figure out more specifics, such as the exact path, length of track and time on the ground.
