EF-0 tornado confirmed in Twiggs County from Monday morning

The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-0 tornado touched down in Twiggs County, lifting just before moving into Gordon.

TWIGGS COUNTY, Ga. — An EF-0 tornado briefly touched just east of Mountain Springs Church Road in northern Twiggs County Monday morning. 

According to the National Weather Service, the tornado snapped and uprooted trees behind a home along the Mountain Springs Church Road and blew siding off of a house next to a main power line running through the area.

Several trees were snapped and uprooted on both sides of the clearing for the powerlines. The tornado quickly lifted within a heavily forested area shortly after touching down, before moving into Gordon.

The tornado came within 5 miles of the town. A debris signature can be seen on radar in the location where the damage occurred.

Another EF-1 tornado touched down just a day earlier in Milledgeville. That tornado was on the ground for close to 7 miles, spinning up in an area west of North Glynn St and West Charlton St snapping and uprooting trees. The tornado downed trees, damaged the EOC, and Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin.
