ATLANTA — Traveling through the world's busiest airport isn't so stressful after all. That's according to a recent study by MarketWatch, which ranked Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport as the second-best in the U.S. for stress-free travel.

The study analyzed 30 major airports using 2023 data from the Bureau of Transportation. The ranking considered factors like average fares, delayed, diverted, and canceled flights, TSA wait times, and overall flight traffic to determine which airports offer the least stressful experiences.

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport came in first, thanks to its exceptionally short TSA wait time of just nine minutes. However, it ranked second in the percentage of canceled flights.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, D.C., also stood out for their relatively short average wait times, contributing to their high rankings on the list.

On the flip side, airports like New York's John F. Kennedy International and Newark Liberty International, along with Chicago Midway International, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International, and George Bush Intercontinental in Houston, were ranked among the bottom five. These airports were noted for more frequent delays and cancellations, making them more stressful for travelers.

With its impressive performance, the Atlanta airport continues to solidify its reputation as a reliable and traveler-friendly hub despite its status as the busiest in the world.
