MONROE COUNTY, Georgia — A crossing guard at a Monroe County elementary school was hit by a truck on Wednesday morning, according to a press release from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

They say it happened outside TG Scott Elementary School at around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The crossing guard Patricia Davis was directing traffic onto Thornton Road when a truck driver's right bumper struck the left side of her body.

When interviewed by authorities, the driver says he was driving down Thornton Road, the sun was directly in his eyes and he couldn't see the crossing guard until his truck hit her.

Now, the crossing guard was taken to a Macon area hospital where they say she has non-life threatening injuries. They say she is currently being evaluated at the hospital.
