MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Georgia College's high-traffic intersections are about to get safer for students walking around campus.
New pedestrian crossing is set to be activated on the college's campus next month.
A news release from the Georgia Department of Transportation says this is the campus's second Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon. The agency says the signalized crosswalk looks the same as the working pedestrian crossing on West Hancock Street.
A PHB keeps traffic flowing until a pedestrian taps the signal button to cross, according to the department of transportation.
It will be installed on June 1 on State Route 22/West Montgomery Street at North Liberty Street.
The state says pedestrians should pay close attention to the signals and move across the road only when prompted by the signals.
