ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves are remembering the life and legacy of the iconic baseball scout Paul Snyder.
Multiple outlets reported that he was 88 years old. The Braves shared on social media that Snyder was a "true baseball man" who held almost every role there is in the game. He was a player, a manager, a scout and an executive. He spent over 50 years with the organization and is a Braves Hall of Famer.
"But it was his talent to find, identify and develop baseball talent that made him so special, and he used that ability to help turn the Braves into a perennial powerhouse over such an illustrious career," a post shared on X says.
The Braves credited Snyder for helping develop Dale Murphy when he played in the MLB along with others.
"He scouted Tom Glavine. He recommended Chipper Jones," the post reads. "The list of his accomplishments goes on and on."
The team described Snyder as a man with a "vibrant personality" and "generous nature."
"It is with a heavy heart we send our condolences to his wife, Petie, two children, and numerous loving grandchildren the Braves said.
Others joined the Braves on social media to express their sadness behind the loss.
