MACON, Ga. — The ninth week of Football Friday Night is here with a slate of Central Georgia teams going head-to-head. Here are the games we’re keeping an eye on in Week 9:
First Presbyterian Day School vs John Milledge Academy
FPD is coming off a statement win last week when they knocked off rival Stratford 28-14.
They'll look to carry that momentum into this game against a 1-6 John Milledge team. The Trojans have lost five games in a row, while the Vikings are off to a 7-1 start.
FPD standout Major Simmons is on a hot streak at the moment. He combined for four total touchdowns against Stratford, and he'll be a key player to watch in the road matchup against John Milledge.
Westside vs Pike County
Westside running back Khadipius Iverson has been the fuel of the Seminole's offense this season, and he'll be important if they want to pull out a win over Pike County.
Iverson is in the midst of his third-straight 1,000 rushing season, and he could add to that total with a big game against Pirates.
On Senior Night, Iverson will be must-watch TV as he and the Seminoles take on a Pike County team that's started the year with a 4-2 record.
Trinity Christian vs Southland Academy
Trinity Christian is looking for their fifth win in a row when they take on Southland at home in Cleve Warnock Field.
Multi-position athlete Wade Register has led the way for the Crusaders this year. He's broken off multiple long runs to keep the win streak alive, not to mention his performance as a linebacker, or his duties as one of the top-ranked junior kickers in the country.
The Crusader offense has scored more than 25 points in five of their seven outings this season, and that could prove to be too much for a 1-6 Raiders team which has struggled to build any momentum this season.
