ATLANTA, Georgia — One Central Georgia high school football team is competing in the Georgia High School Football State Championship games this week at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
The Northeast Raiders are looking to claim their first state championship in school history. They are facing off against Toombs County at 1 p.m. on Tuesday. Before that several other teams from around the state are set to play on Monday.
The Raiders beat Swainsboro in the first round at home by a score of 46-7. Then Northeast knocked off Lamar County 21-10 in the second round before taking down the No. 1 seed in the state, Fannin County in the third round in a high scoring affair on the road. The Raiders returned home last week to take on Fitzgerald. The Raiders won 46-14 to book their first trip to the title game.
On the other side, the Toombs County Bulldogs have won 5 straight games including a road wins in the playoffs over Dublin.
