MACON, Ga. — The second week of Football Friday Night is here, and there’s plenty of eye-catching action to come. Here are the games we're watching for Week 2:
Perry vs Peach County (TAILGATE 13)
Peach County is heading to Perry on Friday night to take on the Panthers in the Panther Pit.
The two teams are old rivals, but they don’t play against each other every year because they’re in different classifications. Despite that, the teams faced off in each of the past two seasons, after a four-year drought in the rivalry.
Perry won both of the previous two games by a combined score of 77-28, but the Trojans are looking to even the playing field this year.
Peach County is entering off of a 40-21 victory over Northeast. Meanwhile, Perry is coming off of a 37-6 win against Baldwin. The Panthers were led by a rushing attack which ran for almost 250 yards in Week 1.
Bleckley County vs Dodge County
Bleckley County will be hosting Dodge County this week at Shelly Hayes Field.
The two teams are situated less than 20 miles apart, and fans of the winning team are sure to enjoy bragging rights based on the outcome of the matchup.
Recently, those rights have belonged to Bleckley County. The Royals have won five-straight matchups in the series, including a 10-7 victory last fall - but the Indians have a shot to break the streak this year.
Friday night’s game will be their season opener, after a 1-9 record last season.
On the other side, Bleckley County just won their Week 1 matchup 31-0 against Rutland. The defense put on a show, stifling the Rutland offense for the full game.
ACE vs Central
The ACE Gryphons will start their 2024 season with a home game against Central.
This will be ACE’s first game on the newly-installed artificial turf at Friends Field.
Central also played on the same kind of turf in their Week 1 matchup. The Chargers were shut out in a 44-0 loss against Dougherty, and will attempt to bounce back against ACE.
The Gryphons finished with an 8-3 record last season, and a loss in the first round of the state playoffs. With a win on Friday, they could start off their season on the right foot.
