FFN Roundup: Mary Persons, Warner Robins clinch region titles with win over Upson-Lee and Jones

Here's a look at the scores and highlights from around Central Georgia.

MACON, Ga. — The 11th week of Football Friday Night is in the books. This week offered up some big upsets, a couple of nail-biters, and a region showdown with Upson-Lee and Mary Persons in a defensive struggle.

Here is a look at a roundup of scores and highlights from around Central Georgia:

Game Of the Week

Mary Persons 15, Upson-Lee 0

The Knights were looking to win their first region title since 1993 but the Mary Persons Bulldogs simply wouldn't allow it. The defense showed up and shut out the Knights. Over on the offensive side of the ball star running back Duke Watson helped pace the Bulldogs. The win locks up Mary Persons' first region title since 2018. The Bulldogs will enter the playoffs as the No. 1 seed and look to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Three Stars

Westside: The Seminoles badly needed a win over Baldwin in the race for a playoff spot and they got just that. It was a gutsy win for Spoon and his team. They play Howard next week in a Bibb County showdown. They would likely end up as the No. 3 seed with a win.

FPD: The Vikings called a QB keeper on 4th and goal from the 21 and managed to convert it. Just an incredible game that came down to one heck of a play by quarterback Jakhari Williams.

Chase Dupree, Southwest QB: He threw 7 touchdowns in the team's win over ACE on Thursday night. Some other notable Central Georgia quarterbacks to throw for 7 touchdowns in a game include Bleckley County's Dominic Sasser, Johnson County's Brooks Norton and you may have heard of this other guy, Houston County's Jake Fromm. Elite company for Dupree after the big game against ACE.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Westside vs Howard

This should be a fun Bibb County game next week with plenty of playoff implications on the line. A Howard win would likely create a 3-way tie with Westside, Howard and Baldwin with each team having a win over the other. If Westside wins it would put them as the No. 3 seed and secure Baldwin a spot in the playoffs. This is the type of game we look forward to all season long.
