MACON, Ga. — The playoffs are underway and Football Friday Night is back with more action. This week offered up some big upsets, a couple of nail-biters, and multiple Central Georgia teams advancing to the semifinal round including Perry after a win on the road at Stephenson.
Here is a look at a roundup of scores and highlights from around Central Georgia:
Game Of the Week:
Perry 34, Stephenson 20
The Panthers earned a berth in the semifinals for the first time in school history behind another dominant performance from both the offense and the defense. Perry seems to be hitting its stride at just the right time. The back off of the regular season looked shaky after they started the year strong but they have more than regained their form over the last three weeks and look to be legit contenders for a state title. Two more wins and they will be making a whole lot more school history but first they have to get by Starr’s Mill on the road.
Three Stars
Warner Robins: They lost tonight but what a run for the Demons it has been. For the first time in 7 years, the Demons will not be playing in a state title game. But the sustained success is worthy of a mention. But don’t expect them to go away any time soon. They will likely be right back here in the quarterfinals next year and we could see them make a return to the state title picture.
John Milledge: The Trojans just continue to win. Now they have a chance to go win another title next week. I wouldn’t bet against JT Wall and his guys in that game.
FPD: After an absolute battle with Tattnall on Friday night, the Vikings advance to the finals and will be looking to win its first title since 1985 when Mark Farriba led them to a 7-0 win over Riverview Academy. First-year head coach Brett Collier hopes to join Farriba and Bobby Brown as the only coaches to win titles at FPD.Those looking for some parallels: Farriba won the title in his first season as the FPD head coach in 1985.
