MACON, Ga. — The playoffs are underway and Football Friday Night is back with more action. This week offered up some big upsets, a couple of nail-biters, and multiple Central Georgia teams advancing to the second round.
Here is a look at a roundup of scores and highlights from around Central Georgia:
Game Of the Week:
Warner Robins 48, McIntosh 15
There were some better games on paper like the Upson-Lee pulling out the one-point win or the Peach County 4OT thriller but it is playoff time in Georgia which also means it is Demon time. They have owned the playoffs over the last few years and tonight was another step towards going back to the state championship for the seventh straight season. The performance wasn't perfect by any means but they reminded us all that this is still a team that is a force come playoff time.
Three Stars
Upson-Lee: The Knights have been a bit of a surprise team all season long. And once again, they managed to provide us with another great moment. They are heading to the second round of the playoffs. What a time to be a Knight.
Peach County: The Trojans did not win but they rallied after being down 20-0 and forced the game into a 4th overtime. The start of the Westbrook era at Peach County may have gotten off to a slower start than some expected but this game here feels like the launching point of something special.
Houston County: This team is battle-tested. They have some losses on the record as a result of playing in a really tough region but as the No. 3 seed, they went on the road and knocked off North Atlanta. This feels like a team that could pull off another upset or two. It is also possible they could get hot and make a run at a state title.
