Top Central Georgia high school football games to watch in Week 5

The fifth week of Football Friday Night is here, and we’ve got a slate of Central Georgia teams set to go head-to-head. Here are the games we’re keeping an eye on.

MACON, Ga. — The fifth week of Football Friday Night is here with a slate of Central Georgia teams going head-to-head. Here are the games we’re keeping an eye on in Week 5:

Hawkinsville vs Rutland

Hawkinsville is hosting Rutland on Friday night, and is looking to capitalize on its momentum after a 41-16 win over Lanier County.

Meanwhile, the Hurricanes have had a rough start to the season thus far. They’re 0-4, and are about to start a three-game road stretch.

The Red Devils kicked off a four-game home stand last week, and if they win against Rutland, coach Tim Settles and his team could be well on their way to another playoff berth.

Crawford County vs Macon County

Crawford County has already surpassed their win total from last year.

Dusty Jump’s Eagles have won each of their past two matchups, and have outscored their opponents 67-14 in those games.

On the other side, Macon County is entering after losing their last three games.

The 1-3 Bulldogs haven’t scored more than 21 points in a game this season, and they’ll need to get their offense going if they want to head into Crawford County and come out with a win.

Howard vs the Academy of Richmond County

Homecoming has arrived for the Huskies, and it could be a much-needed energy boost for the 1-2 squad.

Howard has had an up-and-down season so far. They’ve lost two games by a combined 7 points, and their lone win was a 31-12 victory against Rutland.

On Homecoming, first-year head coach Trey Porter will look to get back in the win column against an ARC team that hasn’t won a game yet this year.
