Frigid temperatures expected for UGA-Georgia Tech game in Athens

Football fans headed to Athens tonight for the 118th Georgia-Georgia Tech matchup should prepare for a cold evening under the Friday night lights at Sanford Stadium.

At kickoff, temperatures are expected to hover near 41 degrees before dropping into the 30s as the game progresses. Factor in the wind chill, and it will feel more like 28 to 34 degrees. Layering up is highly recommended for anyone attending the game.

What to expect this weekend in north Georgia

Saturday morning is forecasted to bring the season’s first freeze, with temperatures dipping to 30 degrees. Saturday’s high will reach only 51 degrees, while Sunday will see a similar pattern with a high of 52 degrees.

A reinforcing shot of cold air arrives Monday, dropping morning lows to the 20s and keeping daytime highs at a brisk 47 degrees. Tuesday starts frigid again, with lows near 27 degrees before temperatures inch upward midweek.
