OXFORD, Miss — If there's a silver lining to Georgia's upset loss on the road to Ole Miss on Saturday, it's that the Rebels now owe the Bulldogs hundreds of thousands of dollars.
You may remember Ole Miss fans storming the field with 16 seconds remaining after Georgia turned the ball over on downs to stop the clock. The game hadn't ended yet, as Ole Miss still needed to take a knee to run the clock out. That stunt right there cost the Rebels $100,000.
Ole Miss was also fined for it being its second offense of fans storming the field -- with the first offense coming in September 2023 in the Rebels' win over LSU at Vaught Hemingway Stadium. The school was fined $250,000 for being repeat offenders after rushing the field following the win vs. Georgia.
In total, Ole Miss was fined $350,000, and all of that money will go right toward the University of Georgia.
This has been the third fine the Southeastern Conference has handed out this season in relation to fans storming the field.
The Rebels found themselves on the losing side of a field storming on Oct. 12 when LSU knocked them off in Death Valley. Vanderbilt stormed the field after beating No. 1 Alabama a week before that.
LSU was also fined $250,000 this past weekend for fans throwing debris onto the field in the Tigers' game against Alabama. Texas faced the same fine for fans throwing debris onto the field against Georgia in the schools' matchup in Austin.
