Georgia senior defensive back no longer with Bulldogs over violation of team rules

The school did not specify the rule violation on Tuesday.

ATHENS, Ga. — A senior defensive back is no longer with the Georgia Bulldogs, the program announced on Tuesday.

The school said David Daniel-Sisavanh was "no longer on the Bulldog roster because of a violation of team rules." UGA did not specify the rules violation.

“We wish David good luck during his next step,” said head coach Kirby Smart in a statement.

Daniel-Sisavanh started 10 games for the Dawgs last season.

Separately, a redshirt freshman offensive lineman, Kelton Smith Jr., is ending his football career due to a pre-existing medical condition. The school says it has been closely monitored to this point but that, "After discussions with medical specialists, Smith and his family have decided that Smith will no longer participate in football."

Smith, the school said, will retain his scholarship and contribute to the football team "in a different capacity."

“This is never an easy transition for a player and we vow to stick with Kelton during this period and provide him the support he needs,” Smart said.  “It is tough losing a person of Kelton’s character but we look forward to him staying a part of our program.”
