JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It was a close battle down in Jacksonville, Florida, between Georgia and Florida.
The two longtime rivals went back-and-forth, but ultimately the Bulldogs came back from being down at halftime to win 34-20.
Here's three takeaways on how Georgia came from behind to get it done.
Bad day for Beck
No sugarcoating it. Carson Beck struggled in this one. The fifth-year quarterback made multiple errors, with two interceptions in the first half and another in the second.
He wasn't very accurate either, as he only completed about 50% of his passes in the first half.
He managed to turn things around late, as he finally began to connect with his receivers and helped the Bulldogs score 21 points in the second half alone.
He finished with over 300 yards passing, two touchdowns and completed more than 60% of his passes.
Running back and former Florida Gator Trevor Etienne was quiet in the backfield due to injury, but freshman Nate Frazier stepped up and led the team in rushing. Both him and fellow freshman Dwight Phillips Jr. each found the endzone.
Overall, while the Bulldogs got a win, 11 interceptions over the past five games from Beck doesn't inspire a ton of confidence.
Falling short of defensive expectations
The Bulldogs' defense looked like the best unit in college football against Texas.
Against Florida, who had to trot out its third string quarterback in the first half, the Bulldogs allowed 20 point, with 10 of those were to third stringer Aidan Warner. The defense and didn't generate the same level of pass rush upside they had against the Longhorns.
While it was a quiet game overall, CJ Allen's interception helped seal the game for the Bulldogs late, a crucial turnover for a defense that didn't have the same level of dominance they did against Texas two weeks ago.
Chaz Chambliss had the team's only sack, while several players made tackles in the backfield. While not necessarily a bad day on defense, it wasn't as good as Georgia fans expected.
What's next?
It's about to get serious for Georgia.
The Bulldogs still have to play two top 25 teams in Ole Miss and Tennessee — the latter is in the top 10.
Not just that, but they have to play them back-to-back, including Ole Miss on the road.
Neither opponent will be an easy matchup, and if Georgia -- specifically Beck -- plays as the team did against Florida, it may not end well. However, the Bulldogs are plenty capable of taking down the best of the best, as shown with their win over Texas.
Will Georgia be able to remain at just one loss despite the difficult opponents ahead? Time will tell.
