What to know for Georgia vs. Georgia Tech in Athens tonight

The Bulldogs host the Yellow Jackets with their sights on sealing a case for the College Football Playoff.

ATHENS, Ga. — The 118th edition of "Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate" will be under the Friday night lights in Athens this evening.

Georgia and Georgia Tech face off with a lot on the line, at least for the Bulldogs -- a win over Tech would see them finish the regular season 10-2 and all but clinch a spot in the College Football Playoff. For the Yellow Jackets, it's a chance to knock the Dawgs off their perch (and possibly out of the Playoff altogether).

Here's what you want to know for Friday gameday:

Georgia vs. Georgia Tech | Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate 2024

  • Where: Sanford Stadium, Athens
  • When: Friday night, November 29, 7:30 p.m. ET
  • TV: ABC
  • Tickets: Sold out, some availability on secondary markets however. (The UGA athletics site directly links to SeatGeek, where two-ticket availability begins at about $60.)
  • What's on the line: For the Dawgs, everything -- a win essentially puts them into the College Football Playoff ahead of the SEC Championship Game. For Tech, it's mostly about pride and the chance to deal a massive blow to UGA. At 5-3 in the ACC, the Jackets can't reach the conference championship game and at 7-4 they're bowl eligible regardless of Friday night's outcome. They can secure a nicer bowl invitation with a feather-in-the-cap win over the Dawgs, however.

Parking

At SeatGeek, parking in the east and north campus decks starts in the $80s. You can also get closer to Sanford Stadium at higher price points.

Gameday weather

Bring layers!

Highs will remain in the upper 40s into the late afternoon, but after the sun sets it will get colder. Temperatures will dip into the 30s as the game progresses.

"Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate" history

It's been eight years (and six games, with the rivalry game skipped in 2020 due to the pandemic) since Tech scored a win over UGA.

Things got pretty close last year, with the Yellow Jackets mounting a fourth-quarter comeback attempt that saw them get within one score, but the Dawgs successfully ran out the final 3:45 to win 31-23.

The Dawgs have won this game 71 times, while Tech has won it 41 times. There are also five ties in the game's history.
