The recent Mercer graduate had a phenomenal season averaging a double double, led the league in rebounds, took home the coaches SoCon Player of the Year honors and also made the first team all-conference.
Thompson was named the SoCon Player of Month three times this past season, led the Bears to a 25-8 overall record and a perfect 14-0 run in the Southern Conference.
Mercer won the Southern Conference Tournament for the 2nd straight year, and made the NCAA tournament for a 2nd straight season.
She averaged 13.3 points per game and a league high 10.6 rebounds per contest.
She becomes the 2nd Mercer women's basketball player to claim the award, and third player in Mercer history to win. Former teammate Kahlia Lawrence won it last year, while Will Bagrou was a two time, Male Athlete of the Year in 2016, and 2017.
