Bloomfield Youth Baseball raising money for championship game in New Orleans

60 members of the team are looking to make the trip to the championship game, but they need your help to do it

MACON, Ga. — A Macon youth baseball team is raising money so they can travel to New Orleans this summer and they need your help.

President Adonis Hollingshed says his kids work hard all school year on the baseball field to hopefully get to the championship game, so he hopes people can help make this trip to New Orleans possible for the team.

"We went to Mississippi last year," Marquez Wilson said.

This year, Wilson and about 60 of his teammates are trying to make a trip to New Orleans for the 2019 United States Specialty Sports Association Baseball World Series.

The president of the Bloomfield Baseball team says since the team reactivated in 2014 it's done nothing but grow.

"We have grown every year. This year we have over 300 kids and at the end of the year, we pick the best out of the 300," Hollingshed said.

He says parents spend $85 for their kids to sign up, leaving the team to pick up the rest.

"We run our operation off of concessions stands to pay the umpire and at the end of the year we do have a light bill and equipment that we need. That is how we run our operation," Hollingshed said.

The president says they have to raise about $10,000 to get to New Orleans, so they will be washing a lot of cars and holding another fundraiser, but there is a way you can help out.

"They can also go on Facebook and look up the Bloomfield Youth Baseball page," Hollingshed said.

Donations will make sure kids like Jeremiah Rozier don't strike out.

Hollingshed says baseball keeps his kids out of trouble and focused on making a home run.

"It would be a great feeling," Wilson said.

If you would like to donate, you can also contact the head coach at 478-978-6579.
