MACON, Ga. — The 2024 solar eclipse is here and in central Georgia, you are able to see part of it!
About 80% of the sun will be covered up this afternoon. While it won't be totality, the eclipse will still be visible using solar eclipse glasses. Unless you are wearing special glasses or looking at the shadows, you will not be able to tell the eclipse is happening.
Doctors do warn that looking up at the sun without the proper protection, for even just a few seconds, can cause a lifetime of damage. Do not look at the sun unless you have solar eclipse glasses.
Here is a county-by-county look at the beginning, peak, and end times in central Georgia.
