KATHLEEN, Ga. — Sunday, we announced the winners of St. Jude's 2019 Dream Home Giveaway campaign. Ten of the over 7,000 people that entered the campaign walked away with prizes, including Mike and Sherry Eaton who won the dream home located in Kathleen.
"It's unbelievable is what it is. We are overwhelmed," said Mike. "It's such a beautiful place."
Sunday afternoon, the Warner Robins couple got a call about the announcement while they were pumping gas.
"Our next door neighbor saw it on television and we were sitting at Kroger getting gas and she called me," said Sherry. "She was real tickled that she was the first one to tell us."
For the Eatons, entering the contest has become a long-standing tradition.
"We've done it for a number of years," said Mike. "We believe in the organization, and for us that's what it's all about -- investing in what they do for people and families medically and financially. The perk is if you win the house."
The 2019 campaign raised over $750,000 to help provide for children and their families at St. Jude Children's Hospital.
The dream home is located in the Woodlands neighborhood in Kathleen and is valued at $415,000. The couple is still deciding on what to do with the house.
"We're gonna pray on it," said Sherry. "We really feel like it's a huge blessing from God, and we want to do the right thing. It would be a dream to live here for sure."
