UPDATE: 1 PM: Dawn Shaw says a Peach County deputy shot her husband around 3 Tuesday morning, as soon as he opened the door at their house.
She says she asked the deputy, "Why did you shoot him?"
She says the deputy responded, "Because he had that in his hand" -- pointing to Lonnie Shaw's handgun.
Dawn Shaw says her husband's gun was at his side when the deputy fired. She said he never raised it or pointed it at the two deputies at his door.
She said her husband opened the door and said, "Yes, sir." She said the deputies never spoke to him.
Her story contradicts the version by Peach County Sheriff Terry Deese. He said one of his deputies shot Shaw after he made a move as if he was about to raise his gun.
She says the shooting came about three hours after her son came to the door.
Her husband, Lonnie Shaw, sent her son away around midnight.
The son later turned up at the Peach County Medical Center with a gunshot wound. But Dawn Shaw said he wasn't shot at their house.

UPDATE: 10:30 AM: Peach County Sheriff Terry Deese says one of his deputies shot a man after the man raised his gun.
So far, Deese and the GBI have not identified the man or the deputy.
But it happened around 3:30 a.m. at 50 West Valley Drive.'
Deese says when deputies came to the home it took a while for anyone to answer the door He said a man who lives at the home opened the door and there was a brief conversation. He says that's when the man made a move like he was about to raise the gun at the deputies, and one deputy felt threatened and shot him
That came after another man showed up at the Peach County Medical Center around 2 a.m. with a gunshot wound. The GBI says that man was connected to the man shot by the deputy, but have not given details.
Deese says it's standard procedure in a shooting for that deputy to be placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. He's not sure long that could take.
He says the last time he remembers a deputy shooting a suspect was in 1989
