The spirit of giving is alive and well this season.

An anonymous "layaway angel" spent $20,000 paying off every single layaway account at a Toys R Us store in Bellingham, Mass., on Wednesday, said Adrienne O'Hara, a spokesperson for Toys R Us.

The woman walked into the store and paid off 150 layaways accounts. A local news outlet, the Milford Daily News, reported that customers nearly cried when they found out their accounts were paid.

And it's not the first time the toy chain has experienced a "layaway Santa or angel" said O'Hara.

In 2013 there were 597 layaway orders anonymously paid off in Toys R Us stores across the country. O'Hara said they expect this year to be no different.

"People want to pay it forward," she said.
