SUNRISE SNAPS | Coleman Hill Park in Macon

The park sits next to some of Macon's most iconic historic homes and pays homage to veterans with its memorials

MACON, Ga. — On Wednesday mornings in May we're taking you to four beautiful locations in Central Georgia to watch the sunrise.

Weeks one and two of Sunrise Snaps took us to the farmlands near Yoder's Deitsch Haus Restaurant in Montezuma and to the waves of Lake Juliette in Monroe County.

Week three takes us to the scenic overlook of Coleman Hill Park in downtown Macon.

Coleman Hill lies between some of downtown Macon's historic homes and the area's business district. The hill itself is home to Mercer's Law School, memorials to local veterans of World War I, and influential statesman Carl Vinson. There's also a popular concrete slide.

Artist Kathy Wright's talents are showcased in fun concrete sculptures of circles that seem to be tumbling down the hill.

Coleman Hill Park is located right near Mercer's Law School, sandwiched between Spring Street, Bond Street, and Georgia Avenue.
