Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal says the emergency tied to a gas shortage has been extended three more days. Deal says the normal flow of gas should be back by midnight Monday.
The gas shortage started earlier in the week after Colonial Pipeline's supply line ruptured. A bypass line was created Wednesday. Yet some local gas stations like the Valero on Gray Highway are still without unleaded super and plus gas. Others like the Shell in Perry are already seeing lower gas prices.
Jessie Adams in Perry says the gas prices may be up but at least there is gas available now.
"Lots of places were out of gas, so that forced us to get to the first place that we got to fill up and don't worry about the prices because high prices is better than no gas at all,” says Adams.
Gas prices are expected to be back to normal by next week. According to AAA, Georgia's current gas prices compared to the national price is up about 16 cents. Compared to just a week ago prices are up about 27 cents.
