ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta's airport plans to open a new northbound entrance Saturday.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport said in a news release that the relocated access point from Riverdale Road will be marked by a 35-foot-tall monument sign.
Aviation General Manger Miguel Southwell said the airport's international terminal has a "grand entryway" as visitors come off Interstate 75 and they wanted to provide the same experience for those coming to the domestic terminal. He said the changes also improve safety and reduce congestion for drivers.
The airport says the opening of the intersection of Riverdale Road and Airport Boulevard is the final phase of a major roadway construction project.
