Fulton County DA wants bond revoked for Trump co-defendant Harrison Floyd

Prosecutors allege that Floyd attempted to intimidate witnesses in social media posts. His attorney alleges the DA is "biased" because he's a "Black conservative."

ATLANTA — Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis wants the bond revoked for Trump co-defendant Harrison Floyd after he allegedly attempted to intimidate witnesses in a slew of social media posts.

Willis filed the motion Wednesday afternoon, alleging Floyd committed "numerous intentional and flagrant violations of the conditions of release ordered by the Court." The bond prevents Floyd from communicating directly or indirectly with co-defendants and witnesses.

Prosecutors allege that Floyd attempted to intimidate several people involved in the case through public posts on X, the social media app formerly known as Twitter.

The posts primarily involved former Fulton County election worker Ruby Freeman. Floyd's charges in the election case stem from his alleged involvement in the plot to get Freeman to falsely admit she committed election fraud.

Others mentioned in Floyd's posts include Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, former Trump attorney Jenna Ellis, attorney Sidney Powell, and Georgia election official Gabe Sterling.

"Witness Ruby Freeman has been a frequent target of the Defendant's intimidating communications," the DA's motion reads. "Because of and in response to the Defendant's intimidating communications, witness Ruby Freeman has been the subject of renewed threats of violence from third parties."

Floyd's attorney Christopher I. Kachouroff told 11Alive that the posts referenced by the district attorney's office did not violate the conditions of his client's release and showed only parts of conversations.

"There's no violation of any bond," Kachouroff said. "Are some of the things borderline untasteful? Sure. But nothing that would overtly violate the order."

Kachouroff alleged that Willis wanted to revoke Floyd's bond because she was "biased."

The attorney further alleged that when Floyd traveled from Maryland to Georgia to turn himself in following the indictment, Willis called Floyd's family members and in-laws in an attempt to intimidate them.

Kachouroff added that he planned to file a motion to disqualify Willis.

"I believe that Fani doesn't like Harrison Floyd because he's a Black conservative," Kachouroff said. "She's treating him differently, in my opinion. ...It's gone too far."

Fulton DA spokesperson Jeff DiSantis declined to comment on Kachouroff's claims.

Floyd, a former director of political group Black Voices for Trump, was the only one of the 19 defendants who spent extended time in the Fulton County Jail after he failed to negotiate a bond with prosecutors before turning himself in to law enforcement.

Floyd faces three charges, including conspiracy to commit solicitation of false statements and writings and one count of influencing witnesses. A trial date for Floyd, former President Donald Trump and the remaining 13 defendants in the case has not been set.

It's unclear when McAfee will take up the motion. If the bond is revoked, Floyd will be ordered to return to jail.
