ATLANTA — The Atlanta Falcons will pay tribute to the Apalachee High School community this Sunday after a tragic shooting left four people dead, including two students and two teachers.
Players wore Apalachee Wildcats shirts during warmups before the game, and a moment of silence will be held prior to kickoff to honor those affected by the tragedy.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) said the shooting occurred around 10:20 a.m. after Barrow County authorities responded to reports of an active shooter at the high school. Within minutes, 14-year-old Colt Gray, a student at Apalachee, was arrested and charged with four counts of murder.
Teachers Richard Aspinwall and Cristina Irimie, as well as 14-year-old students Christian Angulo and Mason Schermerhorn, were killed in the attack.
Colin Gray, Colt’s 54-year-old father, also faces multiple charges, including four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children. Authorities believe the elder Gray gave his son the gun used in the shooting as a gift.
