ATLANTA-- Congressman John Lewis has spent a lifetime breaking down barriers and making history. The civil rights icon did it again when he became the first sitting member of Congress to help write a graphic novel. March: Book One followed Lewis to Selma, Alabama on Bloody Sunday.
Top Shelf Productions will follow up the award-winning bestseller with March: Book Two. Monday, the company revealed the cover of the second graphic novel in the series. It shows the Freedom Riders' bus set on fire by a white supremacist mob in Anniston, Alabama in 1961. It also shows Lewis giving his speech at the March on Washington.
The release of March: Book Two is scheduled for early 2015. "We're still half a year away — but the interest in this title is so tremendous that we wanted to showcase something special now, as we head into Comic-Con next week," Top Shelf's website announced.
Co-author Andrew Aydin and illustrator Nate Powell will again join Lewis for the newest installment of the civil rights graphic novel.
