MACON, Ga. — Saturday was only December 22, but downtown Macon got an early visit from Santa Clause himself.
St. Nick stopped by Poplar Street with a few of his reindeer to bring some Christmas cheer to children of all ages.
Santa took selfies with families as the downtown Christmas lights display flashed along to the rhythm of classic carols, and people took carriage rides through the streets.
Hundreds of people lined the downtown corridor, enjoying the holiday festivities, including Mick Anderson, from Macon.
He says he brought his kids and grandchildren downtown to enjoy the show.
"It's just beautiful, it's great for Macon," Anderson said. "It's wonderful to see all these people down here downtown. It's what the town needs exactly."
Santa's gone back to the North Pole until Christmas Eve, but you can still enjoy the downtown Christmas lights through January 4.
And on Sunday night, you can still take a carriage ride through downtown Macon.
Kids cost $5 bucks and adults cost $10. You can find the line for the carriages at the fountain located on the corner of Third and Cherry Streets.
