PUTNAM COUNTY, Ga. — A Putnam County jailer was arrested Tuesday after allegedly having sexual relations with an inmate.
Sheriff Howard Sills with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office says Durell Malik Roberson, 20, was fired last night after they received word on Dec. 26 that he was engaging in sexual acts with an inmate.
The sheriff's office launched an investigation after receiving the tip, which led to video evidence of Roberson and the female inmate.
Roberson is charged with sexual assault by disciplinary authority, sodomy and violation of his oath of office.
Sills says he's being held in another jail, but would not say which one.
He says Roberson could face more charges after appearing in magistrate court.
