'No complications. Everybody was nice': Central Georgia voters see a smooth voting experience

Voter and poll workers say there were little to no complications at the polls.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Tuesday, 13WMAZ went to voting polls in Macon-Bibb, Houston, and Peach counties. We talked to voters who says there were no issues while casting their ballot.

In Macon-Bibb County, there were 31 open polling locations, from Macon to Howard and in Lizella. Stevie Davis was born and raised in Macon. He voted at Appling Middle School. He said he didn't experience any problems.

"It was very smooth. I thought the lines were going to be long, but I guess I got here early. I asked them and they say it was moving real fine, so I was in about less than 5 minutes," Davis said.

Davis decided to not vote early because he wanted to be a part of the Election Day voting experience. He says people should vote and "you can't get mad when things aren't right."

The Georgia Secretary of State's office says Georgia has recorded record early voting turnout since the first day of early voting. There were more than 2.5 million ballots cast before November 4, 2022.

Gail Harbuck lives in Warner Robins and came to Houston Healthcare Pavilion to submit her vote. She said she thought there would be more people.

"Because it was so slim, and me being handicapped, I went through the handicap lane," Harbuck said.

Harbuck uses a wheeled walker to get around. She says getting through the line was easy for her because she got to skip through the line. She says she's glad she didn't have to stand up for a long time.

In Peach County, Carolyn Perkins went to the Byron Municipal Complex to vote. She said, "it was smooth."

Perkins has been voting for more than 20 years and said it is everyone's right. She says when you vote, you have nothing to complain about. When voting, she says she looks for candidates who know what they are doing.

"I believe they know they're honest, know their job, and I think they'll do a good job and helping the people of America," Perkins said.

Harbuck said it's important to vote and help choose Georgia's leaders.

"We've got to have the right leader to teach us to lead us in the right direction."
