Eric Wilson re-elected for third term as Forsyth Mayor. Here's what he had to say

Citizens in Forsyth voted for Wilson to stay in office for another four years. He won over John T. Howard, who previously served as mayor and on the city's council.

FORSYTH, Ga. — The City of Forsyth has re-elected Eric Wilson to be their mayor for a third term. Wilson was initially elected back in 2015. He feels grateful that the city wants to continue his mission.

"Elections are emotional things and you just never know what to expect. You work hard and hope for the best and it turned out better than we expected tonight. I'm very gratified. I think the voters support what we're doing in the city and I'm just so appreciative of that," Wilson said.

Wilson defeated John T. Howard by 365 votes. Howard and Wilson have worked together for years either serving as mayor or on the city's council.

"I consider him a friend. I just wish the best for him and I appreciate the service he's given to the citizens of Forsyth," Wilson said.

Wilson is excited to move 'Team Forsyth' forward.

"When I first became mayor I talked a lot about team Forsyth and I really believe in the team concept," Wilson said. "One person can't do it alone. It is a team, and not only the voters who supported me but even the ones who didn't vote for me."

After the results, Wilson said that he is hoping to do a good job for the community and help make Forsyth a better place.

"You know I want to be your mayor and serve you as well, and work together over the next four years to build a better Forsyth," Wilson said.
