2024 Georgia Primary June 18 runoff: Who's on the Atlanta ballot

Georgia's June runoff is a result of the May primary election, which sets the stage for the November general election.

ATLANTA — Voters across the Peach State will soon head to the polls to cast their ballots in a runoff election on June 18.

Georgia's June runoff results from the May primary election, which sets the stage for the November general election. Here's what voters should know come Tuesday.

What is a runoff election?

A runoff election happens when no one candidate wins 50% plus 1 of the vote total outright. 

If that happens, then the top two finishers in that race advance to face off in another election to determine a winner. 

How to check if you're registered 

To find out if you're registered to vote, visit the Georgia Secretary of State's Office's My Voter Page

  • Enter your first initial, last name, county of residence and date of birth.
  • If you're registered to vote, your information will be available online.

Who's on the 2024 Georgia Primary runoff?

The June 18 runoff includes races for the U.S. Congress, DeKalb CEO and Clayton County Sheriff. 

Georgia Congressional 3rd District Race

Clayton County Sheriff

After the embattled and convicted ex-Clayton County Sheriff left the position after he was convicted of violating inmate's Civil Rights, Sheriff Levon Allen took over.

DeKalb County Chief Executive Officer

Voters in DeKalb County will elect a new CEO. Michael Thurmond has been in the position since 2017 and is stepping down after reaching his term limit. Two other candidates are now vying to fill his spot:
