MACON, Ga. — The race for Georgia U.S. House District 8 is one of the many key races in the 2024 election on Nov. 5.
Incumbent Austin Scott will face off against Democrat Darrius Butler, a Hawkinsville native.
Scott has been a member of the House of Representative since the 2010s when he took down Democrat Rep. Jim Marshall.
Scott is best known for putting his name in the ring twice to replace former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy back in October 2023. Both efforts failed before Louisiana Rep. Mike Johnson was selected.
