ATLANTA — Sunday marks a bit of a milestone as we look ahead to a November presidential election that will actually be here sooner than you realize.
In just one month, Georgians will be able to cast their votes for president, with October 15 marking the first day of early voting in the Peach State.
With early voting just a month away, it's also a good time to remind anyone who plans to vote but isn't yet registered that the deadline for voter registrations or changes for the November election is October 7. That's in just three weeks.
If you're planning on voting early, make sure you check your county registrar's schedule.
In larger counties like Fulton County, it will be available weekdays and weekends for large stretches of the day up to November 1, the last day of the early voting period. But in many other counties, the early voting schedule is more limited.
Meanwhile, if you're planning on voting by absentee (mail-in) ballot, the window to request a ballot is currently open. You can do so here.
The last day to request an absentee ballot is October 25 -- be mindful that there is no fixed deadline to return it, rather the deadline is that your ballot must be received by the time polls close on Election Day. With mail issues still lingering around north Georgia, voters are therefore encouraged to fill out their mail-in ballots and send them back as early as possible.
Those ballots will start being sent out on Oct. 7 by the counties.
