CHICAGO — America got a peek into what it means to be an Atlantan during the second night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
During the DNC's roll call vote, a famous rapper made a surprise appearance to represent the Peach State -- Lil Jon.
Right after Georgia delegates were asked how they cast their vote, the Atlanta rapper and producer stepped out into the crowd and made his voice heard.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we are here tonight to officially nominate Kamala Harris for president," Lil Jon said as he walked down the stairs toward Georgia delegates.
His 2013 song, "Turn Down for What," played along in what is arguably such an Atlanta moment.
He energized the crowd, telling them to get their hands up as he reached the Georgia delegates.
"VP Harris . . . Governor Walz," Lil Jon said.
He then handed the microphone over to the Chairwoman of the Democrat Party of Georgia, U.S. Rep. Nikema Williams.
"The South's got something to say," the United States Representative said. "In the spirit of good trouble, Georgia casts 123 votes for the next President of the United States, Kamala Harris."
