The July runoffs are just around the corner and two men are looking to face Michelle Nunn, the Democratic nominee, for Georgia's senate seat being vacated by Senator Saxby Chambliss.

David Perdue stopped by a Houston County fish fry Saturday during his 10-day bus tour.

"I've got a 40-year background in business and with only 10 people in the United States Senate who have any free enterprise experience, I just felt like we needed some fresh thoughts, somebody from the outside of the political world to go out and try to make a difference in this crisis," said Perdue.

The former Reebok CEO told supporters it's time to fix the debt problem. "This debt is our greatest threat to national security, it's $18 trillion, and on top of that, you have these unfunded liabilities coming at us, but the first thing you have to do is get serious about cutting spending, move to a balanced budget, and the second thing is you really have to grow the economy long term," he said.

Perdue said cuts to military spending also hurt security. "America needs a strong foreign policy, to do that we have to have a strong military. It's a significant part of the Georgia ethos here in this state. I grew up in Warner Robins with Robins Air Force Base right here," said Perdue.

He said his opponent, Congressman Jack Kingston, has not made enough change during his time on Capitol Hill. "He has a spending record that looks more like a liberal Democrat's, and frankly, I think if he were gonna make a difference, he would have done it already. I think the decision in this race is very simple, if you like what's going on in Washington, then you need to vote for the congressman. He's been there for 22 years, but don't expect anything to change," said Perdue.
