May Days at Perry fairgrounds reopen after overnight shooting

Law enforcement is still looking for a suspect after a 15-year-old was shot near the clock tower

PERRY, Ga. — The Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry say they'll continue with business as usual Sunday and Monday after a teenager was shot there late Saturday.

The 15-year-old boy is in stable condition at a Macon hospital after being shot in the leg west of the clock tower, Perry police say.

They say they're following up on leads on the shooter.

Police haven't released any further details, such as a description of who shot the teen or what led up to the shooting.

Perry police and other agencies used dogs and a helicopter to search the fairgrounds and woods nearby, but apparently did not locate a suspect.

According to a post on the Georgia National Fair's Facebook page, the May Days event will continue through the holiday weekend with normal police protection.

Anyone with information on the shooting can call Perry police at (478) 988-2800.
