MACON, Ga. — A Macon man is dead after a stabbing. Macon-Bibb Coroner Leon Jones says 62-year-old Mark Green died Wednesday night from a stabbing at the McAfee Towers.
"This is our fifth homicide of the year, and we are in the fifth month," said Jones.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office says around 5 p.m., deputies got a call about a domestic dispute between Green and his girlfriend, 51-year-old Sheldon McCoy.
Police say Green was stabbed with a knife during the argument, but they didn't say whether or not McCoy did it. Neighbor Byron Johnson says he was good friends with Green. "Nobody deserves that. It's a violent way to go out," said Johnson.
Bonita Causey says she saw the couple Wednesday morning. Now, she's lost for words. "I'm really in shock right now. He was a real nice fella and laid back. He speaks to me every day," said Causey.
People 13WMAZ spoke to who live in the complex say they like living there, but say they feel uneasy after the stabbing. "I wouldn't be surprised if they leave the place now," said Johnson.
Causey says the community won't be the same. "I know he's going to be missed. Just seeing him, just seeing his smile," said Causey.
The sheriff's office said investigators interviewed McCoy to get more information about the stabbing. They haven't released any other details yet. Anyone with information about this case can call the Bibb County Sheriff's Office at 478-751-7500.
